Rogues' Memories - Barbados Island Adventures with Rex.

This is a humorous story of an outrageous and quixotic individual who had a wonderful spirit of adventure and an over-the-top spirit of fun.  Rex Wotton managed the West Coast Watersports center at Coral Reef hotel. It was just a short walk from Settlers Beach. The shop took hotel guest diving and on daytime and sunset cruises around the coast. He was a master seaman trained by the Royal Merchant Navy in ship navigation, and marine work. Rex Wotton was one of the most captivating Rogues of Barbados. He had an amazing sense of fun and used it to win over every situation.

In his early teens, he would set off on his own to commune with nature: Leaving home with just the bare necessities, pants, t-shirt, loafers, knife, a Wide rim hat, and little more, he lived off the land: He sheltered amongst trees, caves, and rocks, which he blanketed with bush and debris, making a roof with palms and banana leaves. Banana leaves have many usages. Wrapped around food, they serve as a container for cooking over a fire. They make an excellent surface to serve up a meal, and can be used as a shade and a cover on which to lie down.
